KPK Examines Ono Surono's Wife in Bekasi Regency Project Bribery Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is investigating the possible involvement of elite circles in the alleged bribery case concerning the “ijon” practice for projects in Bekasi Regency. Most recently, investigators have summoned Setyowati Anggraini Saputro (SAS), the wife of West Java DPRD Deputy Chairman Ono Surono.
The examination of Setyowati was conducted at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building on Tuesday (7/4). This summons indicates that the investigation is not limited to the main actors but is beginning to extend to broader power relations.
“The examination was carried out at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building,” stated KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in a written statement.
Setyowati was examined as a witness. The KPK hopes she will be cooperative in providing testimony to uncover the flow of funds and the roles of related parties in the bribery scheme.
This case has previously ensnared three suspects: inactive Bekasi Regent Ade Kuswara Kunang (ADK), his father HM Kunang (HMK), and private party Sarjan (SRJ). The three are alleged to have been involved in the practice of project bribery that was reportedly “pre-arranged” before the official process began.
Ade Kuswara and HM Kunang are charged with several articles under the Corruption Offences Act, including Article 12a, Article 11, up to Article 12B, as well as Article 55 of the Criminal Code regarding participation in criminal acts.
Meanwhile, Sarjan, as a private party, is charged with violating Article 5 paragraph (1) letter a or b and Article 13 of the Corruption Offences Act.
With the summoning of a witness from the family circle of an official, the KPK is sending a strong signal that the investigation into this case has the potential to widen and reveal the power networks behind regional project corruption practices.
The KPK has firmly clarified allegations of procedural non-compliance in the search of Ono Surono’s home.
The KPK searched the home of West Java DPRD Deputy Chairman Ono Surono in Bandung City and Indramayu. A West Java Indigenous Community figure, Eka Santosa, expressed concern.
Following the KPK’s search of Ono Surono’s home, the PDI Perjuangan DPD Chairman who is also the West Java DPRD Deputy Chairman refrained from commenting extensively.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a search of the private residence of the West Java PDIP DPD Chairman who is also the West Java DPRD Deputy Chairman, Ono Surono.
