KPK Examines North Penajam Paser Regent and 22 Witnesses in Coal-Related Gratification Case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has examined the Regent of North Penajam Paser, Mudyat Noor, along with 22 other witnesses, as part of an investigation into alleged gratification related to coal production in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan. The examinations took place at the office of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) for East Kalimantan Province. In addition to Mudyat Noor, the KPK summoned witnesses from regional government, private companies, and the general public. Those examined included the Commissioner of PT Hayyu Tirta Sejahtera, the Chief Accountant of PT Bara Kumala, the President Director of PT Bara Kumala, the Head of Natural Resources at the Kutai Kartanegara Regional Secretariat, and a former director of PT Sinar Kumala Naga, PT Bara Kumala Sakti, and PT Lembu Swana Perkasa. Other witnesses included a former staff member of the Kutai Kartanegara Mining and Energy Office, the Finance Manager of PT Alam Jaya Pratama, the Director of PT Alam Jaya Pratama for the 2006-2017 period, and the President Director of PT Hayyu Pratama Kaltim who also serves as the Operational Director of PT Sinar Kumala Naga. The case originated from the designation of former Kutai Kartanegara Regent Rita Widyasari, President Director of PT Sawit Golden Prima Hery Susanto Gun, and Commissioner of PT Media Bangun Bersama Khairudin as suspects in a gratification case on 28 September 2017. The KPK again named Rita and Khairudin as suspects in a money laundering case on 16 January 2018. During the investigation, the KPK has confiscated 91 vehicles, various items of economic value, five land parcels covering thousands of square metres, and 30 luxury watches from various brands.
