KPK Examines Indonesian Audit Watch Co-Founder Iskandar Sitorus
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) examined Iskandar HP Sitorus, Secretary to the Founder of Indonesian Audit Watch (IAW), as a witness in a suspected corruption case within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance. The examination took place at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta, according to KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo on Friday. Based on KPK records, Iskandar Sitorus complied with the summons and arrived at the Merah Putih Building at 09:33 WIB. A day later, the KPK named six individuals as suspects in a case of alleged bribery and gratuities linked to the import of counterfeit or imitation goods within Customs and Excise. They are Rizal (RZL), the Head of the Customs and Excise Regional Office for Western Sumatra who served as Director of Enforcement and Investigation for the 2024-January 2026 period; Sisprian Subiaksono (SIS), Head of the Intelligence Sub-Directorate for Enforcement and Investigation; and Orlando Hamonangan (ORL), Head of the Intelligence Section. The KPK also named Blueray Cargo owner John Field (JF), Blueray Cargo Import Documentation Team Head Andri (AND), and Blueray Cargo Operations Manager Dedy Kurniawan (DK) as suspects. On 26 February 2026, the KPK named another suspect, Budiman Bayu Prasojo (BBP), Head of the Excise Intelligence Section at the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation. On 6 May 2026, John Field, Andri, and Dedy Kurniawan underwent their first trial as defendants. The name of the Director General of Customs and Excise, Djaka Budi Utama, subsequently emerged in the indictment for the three defendants. The indictment stated that Djaka Budi, along with Rizal, Sisprian Subiaksono, and Orlando Hamonangan, met with cargo entrepreneurs at a hotel in Jakarta in July 2025, with John Field among those present. On 20 May 2026, the KPK Public Prosecutor stated that Djaka Budi Utama is suspected of receiving bribes amounting to 213,600 Singapore dollars.
