The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) examined former MPR RI Secretary General for the 2019-2021 period, Ma’ruf Cahyono, on Thursday (25/6). The examination is related to the investigation of an alleged gratuity case linked to the procurement of goods and services within the MPR. Ma’ruf has been named a suspect but has not yet been detained. “It is true, today investigators scheduled an examination of Mr MC, the former Secretary General of the MPR,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in a written statement on Thursday (25/6). “Today’s examination is in his capacity as a suspect in the alleged gratuity case related to the procurement of goods and services within the MPR Secretariat General,” he added. Based on gathered information, Ma’ruf arrived at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building at around 09.30 WIB. He was still undergoing examination at the time of writing. Ma’ruf Cahyono was announced as a suspect by the KPK on 3 July 2025. For the first six months, from 10 June 2025 to 10 December 2025, Ma’ruf is barred from travelling abroad. The MPR has already commented on the handling of this case. MPR Secretary General Siti Fauziah claimed the case does not involve the leadership from either the 2019-2024 or 2024-2029 periods. Siti stated that the MPR respects the law enforcement process being carried out by the KPK. She added that the MPR as an institution remains committed to maintaining integrity and transparency in carrying out its state duties.
