KPK Examines Former Minister of Religion Yaqut Today, Urged to Cooperate
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) scheduled an examination of former Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
Yaqut will be examined in his capacity as a suspect in the hajj quota corruption case.
“That is correct. Today, Thursday, 12 March 2026, investigators have scheduled an examination of Yaqut Cholil Qoumas (YCQ) in the matter of alleged corruption offences related to hajj quotas for the implementation of Indonesia’s hajj pilgrimage in 2023-2024,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in his statement on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
Budi explained that the examination of Yaqut would be conducted at the KPK’s Red and White Building.
“The examination of YCQ will take place in his status as a suspect. The examination will be conducted at the KPK’s Red and White Building,” he said.
The anti-corruption agency, according to Budi, hopes that Yaqut will cooperate in responding to the examination summons as a suspect.
“We believe that the person concerned will cooperate and will respond to this summons,” Budi concluded.
Judge Rejects Yaqut’s Pretrial Motion
Previously, the South Jakarta District Court rejected a pretrial motion by former Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, also known as Gus Yaqut, concerning his status as a suspect in the alleged hajj quota corruption case brought by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
This decision was announced by sole judge of the pretrial motion, Sulistyo Muhamad Dwi Putro, during a decision hearing held at the South Jakarta District Court on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
“In the main matter, the court rejects the pretrial applicant’s pretrial motion in its entirety,” said sole judge Sulistyo when reading the court’s ruling.
With this ruling, the status of the former Minister of Religion Yaqut as a suspect in the hajj quota corruption case remains valid.
