KPK Examines Former Acting Regent of Muara Enim in Edison Bribery Case
The KPK has summoned a number of officials from the Muara Enim Regency Government over a suspected bribery case in which suspended Muara Enim Regent Edison has been named a suspect. Among those summoned is the former Acting Regent of Muara Enim, Hengky Putrawan (HP).
“The KPK has scheduled the questioning of witnesses in the suspected corruption of goods and services procurement and/or other receipts within the Muara Enim Regency Government, South Sumatra, for the 2025-2026 fiscal year,” KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told journalists on Thursday (23 July 2026).
The questioning took place at the KPK building in Kuningan, South Jakarta. Hengky arrived at the KPK building for questioning at around 10.00 Western Indonesian Time.
The KPK also summoned the Head of the Muara Enim Financial and Regional Asset Management Agency (BPKAD), M Tarmizi Ismail, and the Head of the Muara Enim Regency Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), Emran Tabrani. Budi did not elaborate on what would be examined during the questioning.

Previously, Edison was arrested by the KPK in a sting operation (OTT) on Monday (8 June). The KPK subsequently named Edison a suspect on Tuesday (9 June).
In addition to Edison, three other individuals were named suspects following the sting operation. Their identities are as follows:

Cory Erin Hardi, marketing officer of PT Millenium Solusi Abadi
The KPK suspects that Edison received Rp 500 million in bribes from Cory. The bribe is believed to have been passed on through Abi Nurwardani.
The money is suspected to be a payment to maintain ‘good relations’ because PT MSA, as the smart board supplier, had already won a procurement project from the Muara Enim Regency Government in 2025. In addition, Abi is alleged to have received payments from other business partners of regional offices in Muara Enim. The KPK seized approximately Rp 1.9 billion in connection with this case.
On Wednesday (10 June), the KPK carried out a sting operation against five civil servants from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK). The KPK stated that this operation was still linked to the suspected bribery at the Muara Enim Regency Government. The KPK suspects that the Muara Enim Regent bribed officials at the BPK in connection with findings in the smart board procurement.
The KPK subsequently named five suspects in the second case involving alleged bribery from Edison’s side to the BPK. The KPK revealed that the BPK side had demanded Rp 1.6 billion to alter the audit results.
