KPK examines five Cilacap Regency officials to investigate source of contribution funds
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) examined five officials from the Cilacap Regency Government in Central Java as witnesses on 6 May 2026, to investigate the source of contribution funds related to alleged extortion carried out by Syamsul Auliya Rachman during his tenure as Regent of Cilacap.
The five officials are Wahyu Ari Pramono, Head of the Public Works and People’s Housing Department of Cilacap; Ferry Adhi Dharma, Assistant for Economy and Development of the Cilacap Regional Secretariat; Sukaryanto, Head of the Transportation Department of Cilacap; Hamzah Syafroedin, Head of the Food Security Department of Cilacap; and Rochman, Head of the Civil Service Police Unit of Cilacap.
“The witnesses were asked for information regarding the source of funds used by the heads of regional apparatus organisations for contributions,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Thursday.
Budi explained that the KPK needed to obtain this information because preliminary findings indicated several sources of funds for the contributions resulting from the alleged extortion by Syamsul Auliya.
“Most of the heads of regional apparatus organisations used their personal money for the contributions, with some even borrowing from cooperatives. In addition, there were those who pooled funds from section heads or other structural officials in their departments,” he said.
Furthermore, he stated that the KPK is delving into the mechanics of collecting the money up to Syamsul Auliya.
“The investigators are also confirming matters related to preparations for handing it over to external parties,” he said.
The external parties in question are the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) of Cilacap Regency.
The operation resulted in the arrest of Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman and 26 others, along with the seizure of cash in rupiah.
On 14 March 2026, the KPK named Syamsul Auliya Rachman (AUL) and Cilacap Regional Secretary Sadmoko Danardoo (SAD) as suspects in the alleged extortion and other unlawful receipts case within the Cilacap Regency Government in Central Java for the 2025–2026 fiscal year.
Syamsul Auliya targeted Rp750 million from the extortion, divided into Rp515 million for Idulfitri holiday allowances (THR) for the Cilacap Regency Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, with the remainder for personal interests. However, he only obtained Rp610 million before being arrested by the KPK.
