KPK examines eight West Jakarta Immigration employees to probe extortion

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has examined eight civil servants from the West Jakarta Special Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office (Kanimsus Jakbar) and three private sector individuals as witnesses, in order to investigate the alleged extortion practices carried out by Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections for the 2024-2026 period, Silmy Karim, and seven other suspects. “All witnesses were present. Investigators confirmed the findings of evidence in the series of caught-in-the-act events to probe the mechanism of receiving extortion money, specifically for the Kanimsus Jakbar working area,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Thursday. During the examination held on Wednesday (17/6), Budi further stated that the West Jakarta Immigration employees or civil servants examined by the KPK consisted of General Functional Position holder Dony Indra Kusuma, Head of the Immigration Status Section Zainul Fikri, Head of the Stay Permit and Immigration Status Division Widhi Deniartomo Asisona, and Head of the Travel Document Service and Verification Division Ernawati. Meanwhile, the three witnesses from the private sector consisted of Rachmawati Dewi Supeni, as well as Imas Rismaya and Felia Qintara, who serve as Operational and Finance Staff at PT 1688 Prima. Previously, on 2-3 June 2026, the KPK conducted a caught-in-the-act operation (OTT) related to alleged corruption in the processing of stay permits for foreign nationals. This operation was the 11th OTT carried out by the KPK throughout 2026. In the operation, the KPK arrested 17 people consisting of eight state officials or civil servants and nine private sector individuals suspected of acting as intermediaries for immigration document processing. Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections Silmy Karim visited the KPK on 3 June 2026 to surrender himself. The suspects allegedly obtained profits amounting to Rp145.5 billion from the practice. The eight suspects include Silmy Karim, who previously served as Director General of Immigration for the 2023-2024 period; Acting Director General of Immigration for the 2024-2025 period Saffar Muhammad Godam; Head of the West Java Directorate General of Immigration Regional Office Jaya Saputra, who had served as Director of Stay Permits and Immigration Status for the 2024–2025 period; and Head of the West Jakarta Special Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office Ronald Arman Abdullah. Other suspects are Head of Sub-Directorate at the Directorate of Stay Permits and Immigration Status Tessar Bayu Setyaji and Bagus Bramantyo, Chair of the Limited Stay Permit (ITAS) Status Transfer Team Juniadi Sri Priambudi, and Staff of the Stay Permit Sub-Directorate Gusti Benardiansyah.
