KPK Examines Eight Village Chiefs and Officials in Extortion Case Involving Pati Regent Sudewo
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) interrogated 14 witnesses in an alleged extortion case involving suspended Pati Regent Sudewo.
KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo stated that witnesses were questioned regarding the transfer of funds allegedly ordered by Regent Sudewo through village chief coordinators. “Witnesses were questioned about the transfer of funds on orders from the Regent through village chief coordinators,” Budi told journalists on Friday, 27 February 2026.
The witnesses were also questioned about the process and mechanism for filling village official positions for 2026 in Pati Regency, Central Java.
The 14 witnesses examined included UNM as candidate Village Secretary of Gadu, SR as candidate Head of Administration Section of Gadu, KUN as candidate Planning Section Head of Gadu, AF as candidate Finance Head of Perdopo, and SEW as candidate Planning Section Head of Perdopo. Additionally, ISM as Village Chief of Purworejo, SUG as Chief of Tambakharjo, AU as Chief of Sumbersari, WI as Chief of Sekarjalak, MZ as Chief of Wonosekar, SUK as Chief of Sumberagung, KUS as Chief of Sumbersari, SUG as Chief of Banyuurip, and EK as Service Section Head of Sumberejo were interrogated.
These individuals were examined by the KPK at Semarang Police Resort in Central Java on 26 February 2026.
Previously, on 19 January 2026, the KPK conducted a hand-arrest operation (OTT) targeting Sudewo in Pati Regency. The following day, on 20 January 2026, the KPK transported Sudewo and seven others to the KPK’s Red and White Building headquarters in Jakarta.
On the same date, the KPK announced four suspects in the alleged corruption case related to extortion in village official appointments under the Pati Regency Government. These included Sudewo; Village Chief of Karangrowo, Jakenan District, Abdul Suyono; Village Chief of Arumanis, Jaken District, Sumarjiono; and Village Chief of Sukorukun, Jaken District, Karjan.
Additionally, the KPK named Sudewo as a suspect in an alleged bribery case involving railway infrastructure development and maintenance under the Directorate General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation.
