KPK Examines Dirjen of Ministry of Transportation, Probes Sudewo's Role in DJKA Case
JAKARTA, Kompas.com - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has delved into the role of former Commission V DPR member and inactive Pati Regent Sudewo in relation to the arrangement and conditioning of prospective providers for work at the Central Java Railway Technical Office (BTP Jateng) and the East Java Railway Technical Office (BTP Jatim). This material was explored by the KPK during the examination of Mohamad Risal Wasal, Director General of Transportation Integration and Multimodal at the Ministry of Transportation, as a witness in the alleged corruption case concerning the procurement of railway tracks within the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA). “Investigators delved into matters related to the arrangement, conditioning, and plotting of prospective providers for work within the Central Java Railway Technical Office (BTP Jateng) and East Java Railway Technical Office (BTP Jatim), particularly those carried out by suspect SDW (Sudewo),” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in his statement on Friday (24/4/2026). Budi added that the KPK also explored this material with witness Ari Hendratno, the Project Implementation Officer for Railway Maintenance at the Ngrombo Railway Maintenance Office. The KPK has named Sudewo as a suspect in two alleged corruption cases simultaneously, namely the case and the bribery case for railway track projects at the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation. “Indeed, Mr SDW (Sudewo) is one of the parties alleged to have also received flows of commitment fees related to the railway track construction project that we mentioned yesterday in the update on the detention of one of the suspects, Mr R (Risna Sutriyanto),” said Budi at the Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, on 13 August 2025. Budi stated that the flow of funds was allegedly obtained by Sudewo while he was still serving as a DPR member.
