The KPK examined businessman Robert Priantono Bonosusatya (RPB) as a witness in the alleged gratification case ensnaring former Kutai Kartanegara (Kukar) Regent Rita Widyasari. The KPK is probing the issue of illegal levies collected by Robert from coal companies in Kukar.

“In today’s examination, investigators are delving into the witness’s knowledge regarding the illegal levies carried out by Mr RB to mining companies, particularly coal ones operating in Kutai Kartanegara or the Kukar regency area,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Thursday (2/4/2026).

Budi stated that these illegal levies are related to the transportation routes used by companies to haul coal. KPK investigators are probing the extent of these levies during Robert’s examination.

“Investigators are delving into and tracing how much the amount is, what the mechanism is, and the payments from these coal entrepreneurs to Mr RB. This will continue to be probed and traced, and of course, the calculations are still ongoing,” he said.

Budi mentioned that Robert will be summoned again by the KPK, though he did not specify the timing. Budi is confident that Robert will be cooperative in the next KPK summons.

“For that reason, we are certainly confident that Mr RB will return cooperatively as in today’s examination,” he added.

For information, the KPK once searched Robert’s house in May 2025. The KPK seized a sum of money and documents.

In addition to the house, the KPK also searched six cars parked at Robert Bonosusatya’s house. The search was conducted from 8:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. WIB.

Rita Widyasari Case

Rita was initially named a suspect in a bribery and gratification case in 2017. She was then tried in the gratification case.

In 2018, Rita was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the panel of judges at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court. Rita was also fined Rp 600 million subsidiary six months’ imprisonment and revocation of political rights for five years.

The judges stated that Rita was proven to have received Rp 110 billion in gratifications related to project permits in Kutai Kartanegara. Rita attempted to challenge the verdict.

Rita’s efforts failed after the Supreme Court rejected her request for a case review (PK) in 2021. Rita has been executed to Pondok Bambu Prison.

In addition to the gratification case, Rita remains a suspect in an alleged money laundering (TPPU) case. In July 2024, the KPK revealed that Rita also received money from mining entrepreneurs.
