The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will conduct a deeper examination of the construction of an alleged extortion case regarding holiday allowances (THR) within the Cilacap Regency Government, Central Java. This step is being taken before summoning the Cilacap Police Chief and other officials from the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda).

“We will examine the fundamental construction of the case first,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Wednesday.

As of 17 March 2026, the KPK has not yet summoned witnesses in the case involving suspended Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman. The investigation process remains focused on developing and strengthening the case construction.

“Following the KPK’s designation of suspects in this case, we have not yet summoned witnesses for statements relating to the case construction,” he said.

Previously, on 13 March 2026, the KPK conducted a hand-arrest operation (OTT), marking the ninth such operation throughout 2026 and the third during Ramadhan. In that operation, the KPK apprehended Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman together with 26 others and seized a considerable amount of cash in Indonesian rupiah.

One day later, on 14 March 2026, the KPK formally designated Syamsul Auliya Rachman (AUL) and Cilacap Regional Secretary Sadmoko Danardoo (SAD) as suspects. Both are suspected of involvement in extortion practices and other unlawful receipts occurring within the Cilacap Regency Government for the 2025–2026 budget year.

In the initial case construction, Syamsul Auliya is said to have targeted funds totalling Rp750 million from such practices. These funds were planned to be allocated with Rp515 million designated for the needs of holiday allowances (THR) for the Cilacap Regency Forkopimda, with the remainder for personal use. However, before the arrest was made, the amount collected had reached only Rp610 million.
