KPK Examines Activist Faizal Assegaf Regarding Alleged Receipt of Facilities from Customs Suspect
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) examined three witnesses in connection with an alleged corruption case at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) on Tuesday (7 April 2026). The three witnesses were 1998 activist Faizal Assegaf and two DJBC employees named Muhammad Mahzun and Rahmat. Faizal was questioned as a witness in his capacity as the Director of PT Sinkos Multimedia Mandiri. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that investigators delved into allegations of Faizal Assegaf receiving facilities from the suspect, who also served as the Director of Enforcement and Investigation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (P2 DJBC) from 2024 until January 2026, namely Rizal. “Regarding the examination of the witness in question, investigators delved into allegations of the witness receiving goods or facilities from one of the suspects in the Customs and Excise case, namely suspect RZ,” Budi said at the Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Tuesday (7 April 2026). “Of course, in the examination, investigators explored the intent, purpose, and background of suspect RZ providing goods or facilities to the witness examined today,” he added. Initially, the KPK named six suspects in this case: Rizal, Director of Enforcement and Investigation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (P2 DJBC) from 2024-2026; Head of the Subdirectorate of Intelligence P2 DJBC Sisprian Subiaksono; and Head of the Customs Intelligence Section DJBC Orlando Hamonangan on Thursday (5 February 2026). Subsequently, there were the owner of PT Blueray, John Field; Chairman of the Import Documents Team at PT Blueray, Andri; and Operational Manager at PT Blueray, Dedy Kurniawan. Most recently, the KPK named the Head of the Excise Intelligence Section for Enforcement and Investigation (P2) DJBC, Budiman Bayu Prasojo, as a suspect on Friday (27 February 2026). KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu stated that John Field wanted the counterfeit or fake goods imported by his company PT Blueray to enter Indonesia without inspection. Asep said the criminal conspiracy between PT Blueray and several parties at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise began in October 2025. From the Directorate General of Customs and Excise side, there were Sisprian Subiaksono as Head of the Subdirectorate of Intel P2 DJBC and Orlando Hamonangan as Head of Intel DJBC. Meanwhile, from PT Blueray at that time, there were John Field as owner of PT Blueray, Andri from the import documents team at PT Blueray, and Dedy Kurniawan as Operational Manager at PT Blueray.
