KPK Examines Acting Cilacap Regent to Investigate Alleged Extortion in Previous Periods
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has examined the Acting Regent (Plt) of Cilacap, Ammy Amalia Fatma Surya, as a witness in a case of alleged extortion for Eid al-Fitr holiday allowances (THR) within the Cilacap Regency government.
In the examination, KPK delved into allegations of extortion that occurred in the Cilacap Regency government in several previous periods.
“In today’s examination of Ms AAF, her knowledge regarding these extortion practices was explored, specifically whether they had also occurred in previous years or periods,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo on Wednesday, 6 May 2026.
Budi continued that investigators also examined other witnesses.
The examination was conducted to trace the flow of extortion orders from Syamsul to the mechanism for receiving the extorted money.
“It was explored regarding the flow of extortion orders carried out by the regent, what the mechanism was like, how the orders were issued, and how the money collection mechanism worked,” he said.
Previously reported, on 13 March 2026, KPK announced its ninth sting operation of 2026, which was also the third in the month of Ramadan.
The sting operation arrested Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman and 26 other individuals, and seized cash in rupiah.
On 14 March 2026, KPK named Syamsul Auliya Rachman (AUL) and Cilacap Regional Secretary Sadmoko Danardoo (SAD) as suspects in the alleged extortion and other receipts case within the Cilacap Regency Government, Central Java, for the 2025–2026 fiscal year.
Syamsul Auliya targeted Rp750 million from the extortion, divided into Rp515 million for Eid allowances for the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) of Cilacap Regency, and the remainder for personal interests. However, he only obtained Rp610 million before being arrested by KPK.
