KPK Examines Acting Cilacap Regent Ammy Amalia as Witness in Syamsul Auliya Extortion Case
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) examined Acting Regent of Cilacap, Ammy Amalia Fatma Surya, as a witness in the alleged extortion and other receipt case implicating inactive Regent of Cilacap, Syamsul Auliya.
“Today, investigators have scheduled examinations for seven witnesses, one of whom is AAF as Acting Regent of Cilacap,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in his statement on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
Based on information gathered, Ammy Amalia fulfilled the investigators’ summons at 10:13 WIB.
In addition to the Acting Regent, the KPK also examined six other witnesses: Aris Munandar as the Regional Inspector of Cilacap Regency; Bayu Prahara as Head of the Personnel and Human Resources Development Agency of Cilacap Regency; Jarot Prasojo as Head of the National Unity and Politics Agency of Cilacap Regency; and Indarto as Head of the Fisheries Department of Cilacap Regency.
“All witnesses have arrived at the KPK Red and White Building. They are currently being examined by investigators,” he said.
Previously, the KPK designated two suspects in the alleged extortion case for Eid al-Fitr 2026 holiday allowances on Saturday (14/3/2026).
The two are Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya and Cilacap Regional Secretary Sadmoko Danardono.
“The KPK then elevated this case to the investigation stage and designated two suspects: AUL as Regent of Cilacap for the 2025-2030 period and SAD as Regional Secretary of Cilacap Regency,” said Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, during a press conference at the KPK Red and White Building on Saturday.
The KPK stated that several officials from regional work units (SKPD) admitted to fearing demotion if they did not meet the regent’s demands.
“Some witnesses, from the 13 heads, stated that there was indeed concern that if Syamsul’s demands were not met, they would be transferred and so on,” said Asep.
Asep said that from the witnesses’ statements, regional officials who did not provide money as requested by Syamsul were considered disloyal to the regent’s orders.
He added that the KPK has examined at least seven regional officials in the Cilacap Regency government environment.
