Tulungagung, East Java (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission examined 27 officials within the Tulungagung Regency Government over three days in the development of the corruption case implicating inactive Regent of Tulungagung, Gatut Sunu Wibowo. KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the examinations took place from Wednesday (22/4) to Friday (24/4) at the East Java Representative Office of BPKP to complete evidence and clarify the case’s construction. “Over these three days, we have summoned a total of 27 witnesses from Tulungagung Regency Government officials,” he said on Friday. The statements from these witnesses are deemed important to strengthen allegations of extortion and the possibility of other receipts in the case. Budi explained that the summoned witnesses are not only from officials previously examined but also from several other parties considered related to the case. “With complete and honest statements, it is hoped that this case can be revealed clearly,” he said. KPK also opens the possibility of case development if additional evidence is found during the investigation process. All examination results will subsequently be used as the basis for handing over the case to the public prosecutor to be brought to trial.
