TEMPO Interactive, Semarang:The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Semarang Municipality have established an integrity zone in Semarang as a form of commitment to ensure fast, easy, friendly, and illegal levy-free services. This is done by cutting down the time to process documents, ID cards, and license to construct buildings.

“It normally takes 15 days to process the licenses, we now cut it to 10 days,” said Semarang Mayor Soemarmo at Hotel Novotel Semarang yesterday. Meanwhile, the process to make an ID card is five days at the latest, and one day to have it extended.

To improve the public services, Semarang is applying an online Demographic Administration Information System in 16 sub-districts. Meanwhile in 2011, Semarang plans to provide direct services to people through a mobile service.

Soemarmo also said that efforts at eradicating corruption continue to be improved, including by increasing the accountability of public officials. For public service claims, people can go directly to the office or write an email to penangananpengaduan@semarang.go.id.
