KPK Displays Evidence in Sukoharjo Regent Extortion Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has disclosed evidence related to the alleged extortion case involving Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani (ETS). During a closed investigation, the KPK secured evidence totalling Rp21.3 billion. In a press conference on Saturday (11/7), the KPK displayed evidence including cash in rupiah, precious metals, as well as yen and baht banknotes. ETS is suspected of instructing Tri Mulyo (TRM), the Head of General Affairs at the Sukoharjo Regional Secretariat, to manage ‘Routine OPD Collections’. The amount requested is also suspected to be a continuation of a ‘legacy’ from the previous regent. At ETS’s command, TRM allegedly collected payments from various regional apparatus organisations (OPD) annually and during holiday bonus periods.
