KPK Discovers Efforts by Pati Officials to Orchestrate Witness Testimony for Regent Sudewo
Jakarta — The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is examining indications that parties attempted to orchestrate witness statements in a case of alleged extortion surrounding the recruitment of village apparatus in Pati Regency. The KPK continues to unravel the statements to uncover this practice. The agency has mapped two individuals suspected of orchestrating the testimonies of other witnesses; the two have already been questioned by the anti-corruption agency. ‘Investigators are probing allegations that these two witnesses sought to gather other witnesses and condition their statements,’ KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told reporters on Thursday (5 March 2026). The KPK named the two individuals suspected of arranging statements as Noor Eva Khasanah (NEK), head of the administrative division at Tambakromo Public Health Centre, Pati, and Sudiyono (SDY), Village Head of Angkatan Lor. The KPK regards them as obstructing investigators. ‘This could hinder the ongoing investigation,’ Budi said. On that basis, the KPK urged cooperating witnesses to provide honest and complete statements to investigators during examinations. ‘We urge other witnesses to cooperate by giving truthful and complete statements to investigators,’ Budi added. It has been revealed that KPK has named four suspects following an arrest operation in Pati: Sudewo, Regent of Pati for the 2025–2030 term; Abdul Suyono, Village Head of Karangrowo, Jakenan District; Sumarjiono, Village Head of Arumanis, Jaken; Karjan, Village Head of Sukorukun, Jaken. The suspects were named after the sufficiency of evidence was found. The KPK subsequently detained the four suspects for the first 20 days from 20 January to 8 February 2026. Detention was conducted at the Gedung Merah Putih KPK Detention House. For the acts, the four suspects are charged under Article 12 letter e of Law No. 31 of 1999 as amended by Law No. 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of the Indonesian Penal Code (KUHP).
