KPK Detains Two Individuals in Bali Over Immigration Document Processing
The Corruption Eradability Commission (KPK) has detained two individuals in Bali regarding a case involving the alleged processing of immigration documents, specifically stay permits for foreign nationals. KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo, when confirmed by ANTARA in Denpasar, Bali, on Wednesday, stated that both individuals are private parties. “Two individuals acting as private parties involved in immigration document processing have been detained,” said Budi. Budi did not provide specific details regarding the timing of the arrests or the specific roles of the individuals involved in the case concerning foreign national stay permits in Bali. However, he confirmed that the two individuals have been detained and are undergoing intensive interrogation at the KPK building in Jakarta. Currently, the KPK has not yet determined the legal status of the two individuals as further investigations are ongoing. “At present, intensive examinations are being conducted at the KPK Merah Putih building,” he said. When asked whether the arrests were related to the sting operation (OTT) within the West Jakarta Immigration Office, Budi stated that further investigation is underway. However, he noted that the matter fundamentally concerns the processing of foreign national stay permits, namely Limited Stay Permits (KITAS) and Permanent Stay Permits (KITAP). Previously, the KPK reported the temporary arrest of dozens of people during a sting operation within the West Jakarta Immigration Office, including the Head of the Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office of West Jakarta, Ronald Arman Abdullah. “A dozen or more people have been detained in this series of sting operations,” KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated at the KPK Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, on Wednesday. In addition to Ronald, Budi noted that the KPK arrested several civil servants from the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services, as well as private parties, during enforcement actions carried out since Tuesday night.
