KPK Detains Tulungagung Regent in Sting Operation, 12 Officials Taken to Surabaya

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TULUNGAGUNG - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has taken 12 officials from the Tulungagung Regency Government in East Java to Surabaya. They were escorted for further examinations related to the sting operation (OTT) against Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo.

The group departed from Tulungagung Police Headquarters on Saturday morning, around 06:33 WIB, using a Harapan Jaya bus, under police escort. Previously, several Tulungagung Regency Government officials underwent questioning by KPK investigators for approximately 12 hours since Friday evening (10/4/2026).

Based on information, the officials taken for further examination include several department heads, heads of regional device organisations, the regent’s aide, and one member of the Tulungagung DPRD. Meanwhile, several other officials who were also questioned were not taken to Surabaya and have been released after initial examinations.

The OTT against the Tulungagung Regent was carried out by the KPK on Friday (10/4/2026), followed by examinations of several officials in the local government environment. In addition to examinations, KPK investigators also conducted searches at the Tulungagung Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Office.

To date, the KPK has not provided an official detailed statement regarding the case construction or the parties designated as suspects in the case.
