A police officer assigned to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) as an administrative staff member, Setya Budi Dias Oktavianto, has been named a suspect and detained in connection with the sting operation (OTT) against the Bupati of Pemalang, Central Java, Anom Widiyantoro. Dias and his father, Lilik Budi Suprianto, a private sector worker who was also detained, are suspected of extorting Bupati Anom.

KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Thursday that the officer was on loan from the police force. He stressed that every case handling is conducted objectively, transparently, and accountably, including when it involves the commission’s own employees. He reiterated that all decisions are made collectively by the leadership based on sufficient evidence.

In addition to being a victim of extortion, Bupati Anom is also suspected of extorting his subordinates and private parties. His confidant, Mohamad Haris, is also being processed. The KPK has named four suspects in total based on two clusters of investigation. Anom, Haris, Dias, and Lilik have been detained for an initial 20-day period following intensive post-OTT examinations. Anom and Dias are being held at the KPK’s Red and White Building detention centre, while Lilik and Haris are at the C1 branch detention centre. The KPK plans to hold a press conference to explain the chronology and full construction of the case. The sting operation was conducted in three locations: Pemalang, Purworejo, and Jakarta, resulting in 21 arrests and the seizure of over Rp2 billion in cash. The Bupati’s wife, Noor Faizah Maenofie, was among those examined.
