The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent Suhardiman Amby. Suhardiman is a suspect in an alleged bribery case involving the buying and selling of positions.

Suhardiman was taken into custody on Wednesday (1/7) and was seen wearing an orange detainee vest. His hands were also handcuffed. In addition to Suhardiman, the KPK also detained Kuansing Regional Secretary Zulkarnain and the President Director of PT MIC, Ardiles.

Suhardiman and Zulkarnain had previously surrendered to the KPK after being sought since Monday (29/6). “Both immediately underwent intensive examination,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo on Tuesday (30/6).

The case originated from a sting operation (OTT) in Kuansing related to alleged bribery in the appointment of the regional secretary. The KPK team had also secured a number of pieces of evidence related to the case. A total of 10 people were previously arrested by the KPK, five of whom were taken to Jakarta for further examination at the KPK building.
