KPK Detains Kediri Customs Chief Gatot Heroe
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained the Head of the Kediri Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office (KPP), Gatot Heroe Hernanda, for an initial period of 20 days starting today.
The detention was carried out after the suspect in the alleged corruption case completed his examination on Wednesday afternoon (26/8).
Based on CNNIndonesia.com’s monitoring at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building, Gatot finished his examination and administrative processing at around 5.52 pm Western Indonesia Time.
Already wearing the orange vest typical of KPK detainees with his hands cuffed, he did not answer any questions from the media. With the help of KPK detention escorts and police personnel, Gatot was taken to the KPK State Detention Centre in a car that had been waiting for him.
The KPK will hold a press conference this evening to explain the full construction of the alleged corruption case involving Gatot, who previously served in the Enforcement Sub-Directorate of the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation (P2) from June 2023 to February 2026.
In handling this case, the KPK has seized three large motorcycles obtained from Gatot and other related parties.
Some time ago, the KPK issued two new Investigation Orders (Sprindik) related to alleged corruption cases within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance.
The new Sprindik were based on legal facts that emerged in the trial of the import bribery case involving the owner of PT Blueray Cargo (Group), John Field, and his associates.
The first Sprindik has already named one person as a suspect, namely Gatot Heroe Hernanda. As for the second Sprindik, suspects will be identified during the ongoing investigation process.
On Wednesday (5/8), the KPK examined three people with defendant status as witnesses.
They were the Director of Enforcement and Investigation of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Rizal; the Head of the Intelligence Sub-Directorate of the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation, Sisprian Subiaksono; and the Head of Customs Intelligence Section I of the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation, Orlando Hamonangan.
