KPK Detains Former MPR Secretary-General Ma'ruf Cahyono

The KPK has detained Ma’ruf Cahyono, the former Secretary-General of the MPR. Ma’ruf was detained after being questioned by the KPK as a suspect in an alleged gratification case.

Observations by detikcom at the KPK building on Jalan Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, on Thursday (9/7/2026), showed Ma’ruf wearing an orange KPK detainee vest.

Ma’ruf’s hands were also visibly handcuffed. He was seen being taken to the detention centre in a prisoner transport vehicle.

“I was asked for a lot of information earlier, so I explained so that everything would be clear. I have already explained many things,” said Ma’ruf.

Ma’ruf underwent questioning as a suspect in an alleged gratification case. This was his second round of questioning, after previously being examined on Thursday (25/6).

For context, the KPK is investigating an alleged gratification case relating to procurement within the MPR. The KPK named Ma’ruf, who served as Secretary-General of the MPR RI from 2019 to 2021, as a suspect.

The KPK suspects Ma’ruf of receiving Rp 17 billion. The KPK has not yet detailed the legal construction of the case.
