KPK detains Abdul Wahid's aide for initial 20 days
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained Marjani (MJN), the aide to the inactive Riau Governor Abdul Wahid, for the initial 20 days or until 2 May 2026. Marjani was detained after being examined by the KPK as a suspect in the alleged extortion case implicating Abdul Wahid. “The suspect is detained for the initial 20 days from 13 April to 2 May 2026,” stated Acting Director of Investigations at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Monday. Meanwhile, he explained that Marjani is charged with violating Article 12 letter e and/or letter f and/or Article 12B of Law No. 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law No. 20 of 2001, in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) first of the old Criminal Code (KUHP). Previously, on 3 November 2025, the KPK confirmed the arrest of Abdul Wahid as Riau Governor and eight others in a hand-catching operation. On 5 November 2025, the KPK announced the designation as suspects of Riau Governor Abdul Wahid (AW), Head of the Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing, Settlement Areas, and Land Department (PUPRPKPP) of Riau M. Arief Setiawan (MAS), and Governor’s Expert Staff Dani M. Nursalam (DAN) in the alleged corruption case related to extortion in the Riau Provincial Government environment for the 2025 fiscal year. Some time later, or on 9 March 2026, the KPK announced that it had designated Abdul Wahid’s aide named Marjani (MJN) as a suspect in the case.
