KPK Detains 19 Individuals, Including West Lombok Regent, in Sting Operation
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has conducted a sting operation in West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, resulting in the detention of 19 individuals, including West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini.
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the operation followed an investigation and that the arrests occurred at various locations within the West Lombok area. “The KPK carried out a covert investigation which led to this sting operation in West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara. During the operation, the team detained a total of 19 individuals,” Budi said at the KPK building in South Jakarta on Monday (20/7/2026).
He confirmed that seven of those detained would be transported to the KPK’s Merah Putih building in Jakarta for further examination. Budi noted that the individuals detained included parties from the West Lombok Regency government as well as private sector representatives. Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini was among those arrested at his official residence.
The KPK has a 24-hour window to determine the legal status of the detained individuals.
