KPK Detains 10 Individuals in Sting Operation in Kuantan Singingi
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained ten individuals in a sting operation (OTT) in Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau, marking the institution’s 14th OTT of 2026. “In the caught-in-the-act incident, the investigation team detained a total of ten people,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Tuesday (30/6). Budi stated that investigators subsequently brought five individuals to the KPK’s Merah Putih Building for intensive examination. “The five individuals consist of three private parties, one civil servant from the Kuantan Singingi Regency, and one family member of a state official in Kuantan Singingi Regency,” he said. In accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the KPK has 1 x 24 hours to determine the legal status of the parties detained in the sting operation. Previously, the KPK conducted its first OTT of 2026 by detaining eight people in connection with an alleged tax inspection bribery case at the North Jakarta Madya Tax Service Office, Directorate General of Taxes, Ministry of Finance, on 9-10 January 2026. Also in January 2026, the KPK arrested Madiun Mayor Maidi in the second OTT and Pati Regent Sudewo in the third. In February 2026, the KPK carried out an OTT against the Head of the Banjarmasin Madya Tax Office in the fourth operation. In the same month, the KPK also arrested the Head of the West Sumatra Regional Customs Office, Rizal, who previously served as Director of Enforcement and Investigation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, Ministry of Finance, in the fifth OTT. Subsequently, the KPK arrested Depok District Court Chief I Wayan Eka Mariarta and Depok District Court Deputy Chief Bambang Setyawan in the sixth OTT. During March 2026, the KPK conducted three separate OTTs, arresting Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq, Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari, and Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman. In April 2026, the KPK arrested Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo in the 10th OTT. Throughout May 2026, the KPK did not conduct any sting operations. In June 2026, the KPK resumed OTTs, leading Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections Silmy Karim to surrender himself. Subsequently, the KPK arrested Muara Enim Regent Edison in the 12th OTT and a state civil servant from the Audit Board of Indonesia in the 13th OTT.
