KPK Designates Rejang Lebong Regent as Suspect
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has designated Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari and four others as suspects in an alleged corruption case.
“Yes, one of them is the Rejang Lebong Regent,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK Red and White Building in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Prasetyo stated that the KPK designated five individuals as suspects following case expositions and deliberations.
“This afternoon, an exposition was conducted at the leadership level, and the legal status of those apprehended was determined, whereby the KPK has designated five suspects in the closed investigation proceedings,” he said.
He further explained the roles of the five individuals: two as recipients and three as providers.
“Regarding the details of those designated as suspects, we shall announce them comprehensively tomorrow during a press conference,” he said.
Previously, on 9 March 2026, the KPK arrested Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari, Deputy Regent Hendri, and 11 others during a hand-arrest operation. The operation was linked to alleged bribery involving projects within the Rejang Lebong Regency government in Bengkulu.
On 10 March 2026, the KPK brought the Regent and Deputy Regent of Rejang Lebong, who are members of the PAN party, along with seven others to Jakarta for intensive questioning.
