KPK Designates Rejang Lebong Regent and Four Others as Suspects in Alleged Bribery Case

JAKARTA — Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has designated Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari from Bengkulu Province as a suspect in an alleged bribery case related to projects within the Rejang Lebong regional government on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

In addition to the regent, the KPK has designated four other individuals as suspects in the matter.

“The KPK has designated five suspects in this confidential investigation operation,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the Red and White Building in Jakarta on Tuesday.

“Yes, one of them is the Rejang Lebong Regent,” he added.

“Currently, all individuals who have been secured and brought to the KPK Red and White Building, totalling nine people, are undergoing intensive questioning during the investigation phase,” he stated.

Previously, the KPK arrested Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari and Rejang Lebong Deputy Regent Hendri in a hand arrest operation (OTT).

The KPK conducted this operation on Monday evening, 9 March 2026.

“Confirmed, the Rejang Lebong Regent,” said KPK Deputy Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto when contacted by Kompas.com on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

In the operation, the KPK arrested 13 individuals, including Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari and Rejang Lebong Deputy Regent Hendri.

Of this total, the KPK brought nine individuals to Jakarta for further questioning.

Additionally, the KPK secured evidence including cash, documents, and electronic evidence.
