The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has officially designated Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq (FAR) as the sole suspect in a suspected corruption case related to the procurement of goods and services (PBJ), including outsourcing, within Pekalongan Regency. The legal status was set following investigators’ sufficiency of evidence after an arrest operation (OTT).
“Designating one person as the suspect, namely Mrs. FAR,” said Asep Guntur Rahayu, Deputy for Enforcement and Execution at the KPK, at the Red and White Building, KPK, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (4/3).
Asep explained that Fadia is suspected of involvement in bribery linked to outsourcing procurement and other procurement activities within Pekalongan Regency government.
Based on case exposure results, investigators found strong evidence pointing to the regent’s direct involvement.
For her actions, Fadia has immediately undergone preventive detention for the first 20 days for investigative purposes. “Detention will be from 4 to 23 March 2026,” Asep stated.
She is currently detained at the KPK Detention Centre, Gedung Merah Putih branch. The KPK emphasised that the detention period may be extended at any time depending on the needs of the investigative team to complete the case file.
In a quiet operation conducted in Pekalongan, the KPK actually secured a total of 14 people. The arrests were carried out in two waves, with Regent Fadia Arafiq included in the first batch taken to Jakarta.
Although many people were questioned intensively, the KPK has to date only designated Fadia as the sole suspect. In accordance with procedure, the KPK has a 1x24 hour window after the OTT to determine the legal status of those detained.
Bupati Pekalongan Fadia Arafiq claimed she was not aware that she had committed a criminal offence. She said she did not know about bribery because she comes from a background as a dangdut singer.
The KPK disclosed that Regent Fadia Arafiq had been warned by the Regional Secretary and other officials to ensure her family’s company won as a local vendor.
The KPK designated Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq as a suspect in a case related to procurement of outsourcing services. The KPK outlined the modus operandi used by Fadia.
