KPK Designates Muara Enim Regent as Corruption Suspect
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has announced that it has designated a suspect following the sting operation (OTT) involving the Regent of Muara Enim, Edison. The KPK finalised the suspect designation after conducting a case review on Monday night (8/6/2026).
“Based on the sufficiency of the preliminary evidence obtained, it was decided that this case would proceed to the investigation stage to subsequently designate the parties involved as suspects,” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Tuesday (9/6/2026).
Budi noted that Edison is one of the suspects in the alleged corruption case. “In this matter, the alleged receipt of funds by the Regent is related to procurement projects within the scope of the Department of Education and Culture of Muara Enim Regency,” he said.
Previously, on 8 June 2026, the KPK announced the arrest of ten individuals during the sting operation in South Sumatra, consisting of five officials from the Muara Enim Regency Government and five private sector representatives. The KPK also confirmed that Edison was among the ten individuals apprehended.
