KPK Deplores Alleged Intimidation of Witnesses in Customs and Excise Case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regrets the alleged intimidation of witnesses in the corruption case at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance.

“Regarding the alleged intimidation and the mass action, the KPK certainly regrets this,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Thursday.

The KPK, he continued, has asked all parties not to carry out further acts of intimidation against witnesses in the Customs and Excise case.

“There must be no intimidation, attempts to pressure, or intervention against witnesses, or even against suspects when they are being questioned,” he said.

The KPK will also ensure cooperation on protection with the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK).

“But of course, in the investigation process, the KPK is open to cooperating with many parties,” he said.

They are Rizal, Director of Enforcement and Investigation of Customs and Excise for the 2024–January 2026 period, who is currently serving as Head of the Customs and Excise Regional Office for Western Sumatra; Head of the Sub-Directorate of Intelligence for Enforcement and Investigation of Customs and Excise Sisprian Subiaksono; and Head of the Customs and Excise Intelligence Section Orlando Hamonangan.

In addition, the KPK has also named Blueray Cargo owner John Field, Head of the Import Documentation Team of Blueray Cargo Andri, and Operational Manager of Blueray Cargo Dedy Kurniawan as suspects.

On 26 February 2026, the KPK named a new suspect, namely Head of the Excise Intelligence Section of the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation of Customs and Excise Budiman Bayu Prasojo.

On 21 July 2026, the KPK announced the development of the case by issuing two investigation warrants (sprindik).

A day later, the KPK confirmed John Field’s statement that one of the suspects is Head of the Kediri Customs and Excise Office Gatot Heroe Hernanda.
