The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has issued a firm clarification regarding accusations of non-compliance with procedures during the search of Ono Surono’s (Ons) home. The anti-corruption agency stated that the entire evidence-gathering process was carried out in accordance with regulations and witnessed by various parties.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo explained that investigators did not operate alone during the forced search. The presence of witnesses from the surrounding community and family members serves as proof of the transparency of the legal actions taken.

“In the series of searches conducted, the investigators were also accompanied by family members, including the wife of Mr ONS, as well as local apparatus,” said Budi Prasetyo at the KPK’s Red and White Building in South Jakarta on Friday, 3 April 2026.

Budi revealed that the search of Ono Surono’s home is closely related to the development of the alleged bribery case for the ijon project in Bekasi Regency. From the location, the investigative team successfully secured several crucial pieces of evidence.

Investigators seized various important documents as well as cash amounting to hundreds of millions of rupiah. These items were found in a room known to be frequently used by Ono.

“Of course, when conducting the seizure, there is a seizure report that is also signed by the relevant parties,” Budi emphasised to counter speculations of skipped procedures.

In addition to the issue of witness presence for procedures, KPK also dismissed negative rumours regarding the disconnection of surveillance camera (CCTV) access at the search location. Budi stated that the deactivation of the CCTV was actually done by the family, not by the investigative team.

KPK stressed that the atmosphere during the search was conducive, without any physical or psychological pressure. The family is said to have received the team cooperatively.

“There was no coercion there; it was done voluntarily. The investigative team was also welcomed by the family, with no interventions as per the narratives circulating in society,” he added.

For information, in this bribery case for the ijon project, KPK has designated three individuals as main suspects. They are Ade Kuswara and HM Kunang, charged with violations under Article 12a or Article 11 and Article 12B of the Corruption Eradication Law in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) first of the Criminal Code, as well as Article 5 paragraph (1) letters a or b or Article 13 of the Anti-Money Laundering Law in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) first of the Criminal Code.

Meanwhile, suspect Sarjan, as the bribe giver, is charged with violations under Article 5 paragraph (1) letters a or b or Article 13 of the Anti-Money Laundering Law. To date, KPK continues to deepen the involvement of other parties through witness examinations and analysis of the seized evidence.
