The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has denied statements from Ono Surono’s lawyer, Sahali, who claimed there were suspicions of irregularities in the search process carried out by investigators. Previously, Sahali assessed that the investigators requested the CCTV at Kang Ono’s house to be turned off.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the CCTV was actually turned off by Ono’s family, not on the orders of the investigators.

“Regarding the CCTV, the investigators did not unplug or turn it off. The CCTV was turned off by the family, and the investigators only checked the CCTV. After checking the CCTV, the investigators also did not seize it,” Budi said in a written statement on Thursday (2/4).

Budi also emphasised that the investigation at Ono’s house was conducted in accordance with procedures and existing regulations.

“The search activity carried out by KPK investigators at Mr. Ono Surono’s house, located in the Bandung area, we emphasise was carried out in accordance with procedures,” he said.

“The entire series of searches was carried out based on Article 34 of Law No. 8 of 1981 on Criminal Procedure Law as amended by Article 113 paragraph 4 of Law No. 20 of 2025 on the Criminal Procedure Code,” Budi continued.

In addition, Budi revealed that the investigation was witnessed by Ono’s wife and local community officials.

“The investigators have shown their investigation administration. During the search, it was accompanied and witnessed by Mr. ONS’s wife, family members, and local community officials,” he explained.

Previously, Sahali questioned the steps taken by the KPK, especially from the legal basis aspect.

“Regarding this search process, we noted irregularities because the investigators requested that the CCTV at Kang Ono’s house be turned off during the search process. This makes us wonder why it had to be turned off? What is the legal basis?” Sahali said in a written statement on Wednesday (1/4).

In addition, Sahali also noted other issues in the search process because the investigators did not bring a search warrant. However, that provision is clearly regulated in Article 114 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

It is known that in this search, the investigators secured and seized a number of documents, electronic evidence items, and cash worth hundreds of millions of rupiah.

Today, Thursday (2/4), KPK investigators will continue the search activities at Ono’s house located in Indramayu.
