KPK denies intervention in Bogor Regency corruption investigation

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has affirmed that there is no intervention in the investigation into alleged corruption within the Bogor Regency government, West Java.

“There is none,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Friday.

Budi said the inquiry and investigation into the case are continuing and showing positive progress.

Nevertheless, he invited the public to help oversee the investigation process.

“We also invite the public and fellow journalists to continue monitoring and overseeing every case handled by the KPK, including the handling of cases in the Bogor Regency area,” he said.

Previously, information circulated that the KPK had conducted a sting operation in Bogor Regency on Thursday (20/8).

The KPK later corrected that information by stating that no sting operation had taken place in Bogor Regency.

The KPK acknowledged that it had secured evidence in the form of Rp1.5 billion in cash during an inquiry into alleged corruption within the Bogor Regency government.

The inquiry was subsequently elevated to the investigation stage with the issuance of a general investigation warrant related to alleged receipt of money by state officials in the Bogor Regency government originating from deductions of collection fees at the Bogor Regency Regional Revenue Management Agency.

In the investigation under the general warrant, the KPK has not yet named any party as a suspect.
