KPK Delays Summoning of Customs Director General Djaka Budhi Utama Until Trial Concludes
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that the examination summons for Director General of Customs Djaka Budhi Utama is pending until the trial of Blueray Cargo (Group) leadership concludes.
‘We might as well wait. Similarly to the trial in Riau involving former Governor Abdul Wahid, we are awaiting the outcome. We also await new reports from the Public Prosecutor regarding the testimonies given by witnesses during the trial,’ said KPK’s Deputy for Enforcement and Execution, Asep Guntur Rahayu, after attending the Pancasila Day ceremony at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Monday (1/6).
The two-star general explained that the prosecutors’ statements in the indictment were based on witness testimonies during the investigation.
Djaka is suspected of receiving money on six occasions. One of these, already disclosed by the KPK prosecutors, was US$213,600 in the first month.
‘During the trial, witnesses will testify. It is at that stage that their statements become evidence in court,’ Asep added.
‘The Public Prosecutor will record and report these statements, after which we will assess their implications regarding the Director General’s position,’ he continued.
The KPK has charged at least seven individuals in connection with alleged bribery in importation and gratuity payments.
They include former Director of Investigation and Enforcement at the Director General of Customs (2024-January 2026), Rizal; Head of the Intelligence, Enforcement and Investigation Sub-Directorate (Kasubdit Intel P2 DJBC), Sisprian Subiaksono; Head of Intelligence Section at the Director General of Customs (Kasi Intel DJBC), Orlando; Import Documents Team Leader at PT Blueray, Andri; Customs Directorate General employee Budiman Bayu Prasojo; PT Blueray owner John Field; and PT Blueray Operations Manager Dedy Kurniawan.
All suspects are currently detained at the KPK’s detention facility.
PT Blueray’s representatives are currently facing trial at the Corruption Crimes Court (Tipikor) of the Central Jakarta District Court (PN Jakarta Pusat).
