Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has disclosed that based on investigation data from 2004 until 31 December 2025, 25 percent of suspected corruption cases handled by the anti-corruption agency are related to the procurement of goods and services. “There are 446 out of a total of 1,782 cases, or around 25 percent, related to the procurement of goods and services,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Monday. According to Budi, the 25 percent figure indicates that the goods and services procurement sector remains a vulnerable area exploited through bribery, project arrangements, and malicious collusion between state officials and private parties. Furthermore, Budi explained that the KPK data confirms recent public concerns regarding the susceptibility of goods and services procurement to corruption. Meanwhile, he stated that the KPK has found that deviations in goods and services procurement do not always begin during the tendering process or project implementation, but can also be designed prior to the planning stage. He also noted that the KPK has identified that initiatives for corrupt acts can originate from either state officials or private parties. “Common modi operandi include advance payments, project sweetener bribes, or demands for commitment fees as conditions to favour certain parties,” he said.
