KPK Coordinates with National Police After Staff Member Implicated in Pemalang Regent Extortion Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is coordinating with the National Police regarding the involvement of a KPK administrative staff member implicated in an extortion case alongside the Regent of Pemalang, Anom Widiyantoro. The administrative staff member, identified as Setya Budi Dias Oktavianto (DIS), is also a member of the National Police’s Brimob unit and is currently serving as a seconded civil servant at the KPK.
“The KPK has immediately coordinated with the police authorities,” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters on Friday, 31 July 2026. He explained that Setya allegedly had access to administrative processes, including case information within the KPK, which was exploited to carry out extortion in collaboration with his father, Lilik Budi Suprianto (LBS).
Information leaked by Setya was utilised by Lilik to extort the Regent through a trusted intermediary, Mohamad Haris (GHA). It is alleged that the Regent provided funds amounting to Rp1.2 billion. The Regent reportedly trusted the scheme because LBS highlighted his son’s position within the KPK and presented administrative documents related to case handling in Pemalang.
As a result of these actions, the individuals have been named suspects in the extortion case, which is divided into two clusters. The first cluster involves Setya extorting the Regent, while the second cluster pertains to extortion committed by the Regent against regional officials in exchange for closing ongoing cases.
The KPK has confirmed that there will be both ethical and criminal sanctions against the staff member, Setya Budi Dias Oktavianto. “We will proceed with criminal legal action if proven; naturally, ethical sanctions will also be applied through the Inspectorate and potentially the Supervisory Board, as this employee is bound by the KPK’s code of ethics and conduct,” said the Acting Director of Investigations at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein. Taufik clarified that criminal proceedings will take precedence before the implementation of ethical sanctions.
