KPK Continues Investigation into Ahmad Dedi Despite Police Naming Him a Suspect

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that its investigation into alleged corruption within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance will continue, despite official Ahmad Dedi having been named a suspect by the Indonesian National Police (Polri). “This is truly a new case, different from the one being handled by the other law enforcement apparatus (APH),” said Acting Director of Investigations at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday. He explained that the KPK had previously conducted an inquiry into Ahmad Dedi. “There was an inquiry activity carried out by the KPK team which was actually complete and ready to proceed to investigation, but then another APH named him a suspect,” Taufik said. Because the object of the case is different, the KPK’s investigation into Dedi Congor is proceeding. “We certainly haven’t named him a suspect yet. However, we will definitely name a suspect because an investigation warrant has already been issued,” he added. The KPK previously conducted a sting operation within Customs and Excise, naming six people as suspects. On 26 February 2026, the KPK named another suspect, Budiman Bayu Prasojo, who is the Head of the Intelligence Section at Customs and Excise. On 21 July 2026, the KPK announced the development of the case by issuing two new investigation warrants, confirming that one of the warrants names the Head of the Kediri Customs Office, Gatot Heroe Hernanda, as a suspect.
