KPK considers next steps after former Heri Gunawan staff member fails to appear
Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is considering its next steps regarding former expert staff member to House of Representatives (DPR RI) member Heri Gunawan, Fitri Assiddikki, who has now twice failed to appear for questioning by the anti-corruption body, on 11 and 15 June 2026. “Investigators will certainly consider the witness’s level of cooperation, including whether there was any confirmation of their absence. Everything is being weighed by investigators to determine the next step, whether rescheduling is sufficient or if we will issue a new summons letter,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Budi stated that KPK investigators are currently still tracing the assets of suspects in the alleged corruption case involving the distribution of corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds from Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Financial Services Authority (OJK). “Investigators remain focused on tracing assets related to the case, namely assets suspected of belonging to the two suspects, which are allegedly sourced from or connected to funds originating from the BI and OJK social programmes,” he said. The KPK is currently investigating alleged corruption in the distribution of CSR programme funds, or the alleged misuse of Bank Indonesia Social Programme (PSBI) and Financial Extension Officer (PJK) funds for the 2020-2023 period. The case originated from an analysis report by the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK) and public complaints. The KPK then commenced a general investigation in December 2024. KPK investigators have searched a number of locations suspected of holding evidence related to the case. These locations include the Bank Indonesia Building on Jalan Thamrin, Central Jakarta, searched on 16 December 2024, and the Financial Services Authority Office, searched on 19 December 2024. On 7 August 2025, the anti-corruption body named Commission XI DPR RI members for the 2019-2024 period, Satori (ST) and Heri Gunawan (HG), as suspects in the case. Both are currently serving as DPR RI members for the 2024-2029 period.
