KPK Confirms Transfer of Detention for Former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Compliant with Procedures
Jakarta, VIVA – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) claims that the transfer of detention for former Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, as a suspect in the hajj quota corruption case, was carried out in accordance with procedures. “The KPK ensures that all processes and steps taken have been conducted in line with the mechanisms, procedures, and applicable legal regulations,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters on Wednesday, 25 March 2026. Previously reported, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) explained the reasons for returning former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas to the state detention centre or rutan after the suspect in the alleged hajj quota corruption case had been placed under house arrest. “First, because tomorrow there is a scheduled request for information from the individual,” said Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta, on Tuesday. Secondly, said Asep, because the KPK has scheduled a press conference on the developments in the hajj quota case on Wednesday, 25 March 2026. “Just wait for the progress tomorrow, and of course, we will hold another press conference tomorrow,” he said. Meanwhile, he expressed thanks to all Indonesian society for their support in handling the hajj quota case up to now.
