KPK Confirms Sting Operation Against West Jakarta Immigration Head Regarding Foreigner Residency Permits
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has carried out a sting operation (OTT) against the Head of the West Jakarta Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office, Ronald Arman Abdullah. The operation is related to the processing of residency permits for foreign nationals (WNA).
“It concerns the processing for foreign nationals,” stated KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto in Jakarta on Wednesday (3/6/2026).
Setyo noted that further information would be provided by KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo, adding, “Please wait for the official statement from the Spokesperson.”
On a separate occasion, Budi explained that the processing of these residency permits involves Permanent Stay Permits (KITAP) and Limited Stay Permits (KITAS). “As we know, for a foreign national to reside in Indonesia, there is the KITAP, the permanent stay permit, and there is also the temporary version, known as KITAS,” he said at the KPK Red and White Building in Jakarta.
He added that the KPK team is still investigating when this alleged corruption began. “It is still being investigated; following the sting operation, the parties apprehended are being interrogated. We will delve deeper into the matter from there,” he explained.
Under the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of those arrested during the operation. Previously, the KPK confirmed that this was the 11th sting operation conducted in 2026 within the West Jakarta Immigration environment.
“That is correct, there was a sting operation at West Jakarta Immigration,” KPK Vice Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto told ANTARA.
In a subsequent update, the KPK stated that dozens of individuals have been detained since Tuesday (2/6) night, including Ronald Arman Abdullah. Furthermore, KPK teams are still active in the field, specifically in Bali and West Java. The KPK has also seized several pieces of evidence, including cars, motorcycles, US dollars, Singapore dollars, and gold bullion.
