KPK Confirms No Searches Conducted in Immigration Corruption Case
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that it did not conduct any searches during the investigation of the alleged corruption case at the Directorate General of Immigration.
“No,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, on Thursday.
Budi said that the KPK team’s activity at the residence of the Deputy Minister of Immigration and Penitentiary, Silmy Karim, on Wednesday (June 3) evening, was not a search.
Furthermore, at that time, the case was still in the investigation stage.
“So, as part of the closed-door investigation activities, the KPK installed KPK lines (KPK seals) at several locations for the purpose of conducting searches during the investigation phase,” he said.
Meanwhile, Budi assured that the KPK will inform the public about the search activities in the investigation of the case at the Directorate General of Immigration in the future.
Previously, on June 3, 2026, the KPK initially confirmed that it had conducted an operation to catch people in the act of corruption (OTT) at the West Jakarta Special Class I Immigration Office. The OTT was the 11th operation during 2026.
In addition, the OTT was related to the alleged processing of residence permits for foreign nationals, namely the Permanent Stay Permit Card (KITAP) and the Limited Stay Permit Card (KITAS).
In the operation conducted from June 2-3, 2026, the KPK arrested 17 people, consisting of eight state officials or civil servants, and nine private individuals who acted as intermediaries in the processing of immigration documents.
Some of the 17 people were the Head of the West Jakarta Special Class I Immigration Office, Ronald Arman Abdullah, the Head of the West Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Jaya Saputra, who had served as Director of Residence Permits and Immigration Status from November 2024 to October 2025, and the Acting Director General of Immigration from October 2024 to April 2025, Saffar Muhammad Godam.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Immigration and Penitentiary, Silmy Karim, surrendered by coming to the KPK on June 3, 2026.
On June 4, 2026, Silmy Karim, Saffar Godam, Jaya Saputra, Ronald Arman, and four other people were officially named as suspects and detainees by the KPK after appearing wearing orange vests of the anti-corruption agency.
