KPK Confirms Investigation into Three Customs Officials Over Seized Container at Tanjung Emas Port
JAKARTA — The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed the existence of a container containing car spare parts seized at Tanjung Emas Port in Semarang in mid-May 2026. The commission is investigating three civil servants from the Customs Directorate General’s Semarang office — Khanan, Budi Winanto, and Sutopo — regarding alleged import corruption during questioning on Monday, 25 June 2026.
A KPK spokesperson, Budi Prasetyo, stated on Tuesday, 26 May 2026: “We are confirming why the container remains at the port despite being there for 30 days, how it entered, the clearance process — all aspects of the business procedures and SOPs and their implementation on the ground are under scrutiny.”
The KPK seized the container, suspected to belong to an importer affiliated with PT Blueray, on Tuesday, 12 May 2026. PT Blueray’s owner, John Field, is a suspect in the case.
On Wednesday, 13 May 2026, Budi Prasetyo added: “On Tuesday, 12 May, investigators conducted searches and seizures of the container allegedly owned by an importer linked to Blueray. The container remains at Tanjung Emas Port, where the owner has not submitted an Import Declaration to Customs for over 30 days.” He added: “Investigators will clarify matters with Blueray and related parties, including import companies, forwarders, and the Customs Directorate General.”
