KPK Conducts Sting Operation Against Muara Enim Regent Edison
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a sting operation (OTT) against the Regent of Muara Enim, South Sumatra, H. Edison, on Monday (8/6).
‘It is true,’ stated KPK Deputy Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto when confirmed via text message on Monday afternoon. Fitroh was unable to provide extensive details regarding the covert operation as the KPK enforcement team was still active in the field.
According to various media reports, the sting operation was accompanied by the sealing of several departmental offices within the Muara Enim Regency Government, including the Education Office.
This marks the second sting operation conducted by the KPK in close proximity during June. Previously, the KPK uncovered an alleged extortion case related to foreign national stay permits and/or the receipt of gratifications within the Directorate General of Immigration for the 2022-2026 period. That operation, held in Jakarta, West Java, and Bali on 2-3 June 2026, resulted in 18 individuals being detained, eight of whom were named suspects based on sufficient preliminary evidence. The suspects included former Deputy Minister of Immigration, Silmy Karim, and several high-ranking officials within the Directorate General of Immigration.
