KPK Conducts Marathon Raids in Madiun over Extortion Case Involving Mayor Maidi
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted marathon searches this week in several areas of Madiun, East Java. The raids are related to the alleged extortion and gratification case involving the suspended Mayor of Madiun, Maidi.
“This week, investigators carried out intensive marathon searches at several locations in the Madiun city area,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters on Wednesday (8/4/2026).
The first search took place on Monday (6/4) at the home of the Head of the Communication and Informatics Office of Madiun City. On Tuesday (7/4), searches were conducted at two homes of private parties.
“During these searches, investigators secured a number of electronic evidence items and documents, which are suspected to be related to the case, namely alleged organised extortion through project fees, CSR funds, and other receipts or gratification within the Madiun City Government environment,” he stated.
The KPK has named Maidi as a suspect in the alleged extortion and gratification case. The KPK revealed that Maidi demanded fees from business permits in Madiun.
“From the facts already found in yesterday’s sting operation, the Mayor also requested a sum of money from parties handling permits in Madiun City. Business actors, franchises, and also hotels,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Thursday (22/1).
The KPK seized Rp550 million in cash in this case. The suspects in this case are:
Mayor of Madiun, Maidi
Head of the Public Works Department of Madiun City, Thariq Megah
Private party, Rochim Rudiyanto.
