KPK Conducts Marathon Examination of 63 Pekalongan Regency Officials in Fadia Arafiq Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is examining 63 officials and civil servants, as well as former officials from Pekalongan Regency in Central Java, regarding an alleged criminal corruption case involving goods and services that ensnares the inactive Regent of Pekalongan, Fadia Arafiq.
The Secretary of Pekalongan Regency, Yulian M Akbar, stated that the number summoned by the KPK is quite substantial, although he does not recall the details precisely.
“63, is it? I don’t quite remember the data, but roughly around that number,” he said on Tuesday (7/4).
According to him, the examinations will be conducted over the next several days at the Pekalongan City Police Resort headquarters.
“There are some invited starting today and continuing for the next few days. There are heads of regional device organisations, several procurement officials, and all sorts,” he said.
He confirmed that the summoned officials are dominated by heads of regional device organisations (OPD) and officials related to the procurement of goods and services.
“Sub-district heads probably not. There are procurement officials, roughly 63,” he said.
The Acting Regent of Pekalongan, Sukirman, requested that all parties respect the ongoing legal process by the KPK.
“I think it’s a normal legal process like that. Meaning, we must also respect the legal process being carried out. We urge the summoned officials to be cooperative and fulfil the investigators’ calls,” he said.
When asked about a special message to the examined officials, he said they should follow the legal process properly.
“Just attend and follow the KPK’s instructions,” he said.
