KPK conducts 19th sting operation, arrests Unsoed rectorate officials
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has conducted its 19th sting operation (OTT) of 2026, arresting members of the rectorate of Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed).
KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto said Unsoed Rector Prof. Akhmad Sodiq was among those arrested in the operation.
“The rector was also arrested,” Setyo told ANTARA in Jakarta on Friday.
Setyo also confirmed that Unsoed Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Noor Farid and Vice-Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Norman Arie Prayogo were caught in the sting operation.
However, when asked whether Vice-Rector for General Affairs and Finance Prof. Kuat Puji Prayitno or Vice-Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Public Relations Prof. Waluyo Handoko were also arrested, he said he had not yet received the latest update from his staff.
“I have not yet received an update on the details of those brought to Jakarta,” he said.
The KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of those arrested in the sting operation, in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).
Previously, the KPK began its first sting operation of 2026 by arresting eight people on 9-10 January. The arrests concerned alleged bribery in tax audits at the North Jakarta Medium Tax Office within the Directorate General of Taxes of the Ministry of Finance for the 2021-2026 period.
In the same month, the KPK arrested Madiun Mayor Maidi in the second sting operation, and Pati Regent Sudewo in the third.
In February 2026, the KPK arrested the head of the Banjarmasin Medium Tax Office in South Kalimantan in the fourth sting operation.
In the same month, the KPK also arrested former Director of Enforcement and Investigation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise Rizal, who was serving as Head of the Customs Regional Office for Western Sumatra, in the fifth sting operation.
In addition, the KPK arrested Depok District Court Chief Judge I Wayan Eka Mariarta and Deputy Chief Judge Bambang Setyawan in the sixth sting operation.
During March 2026, which coincided with Ramadan, the KPK arrested Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq, Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari, and Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman. The three were arrested in separate sting operations.
In April 2026, the KPK arrested Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo in the 10th sting operation. However, throughout May 2026, there were no KPK sting operations.
In June 2026, the KPK resumed sting operations, leading Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections Silmy Karim to surrender himself.
The KPK then arrested Muara Enim Regent Edison in the 12th sting operation, and arrested a civil servant from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) in the 13th sting operation, which was a follow-up to a previous arrest. In addition, the KPK conducted the 14th sting operation, which led Kuantan Singingi Regent Suhardiman Amby to surrender himself.
In July 2026, the KPK conducted the 15th through 18th sting operations. Among those arrested were Langkat Regent Syah Afandin, also known as Ondim, Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani, West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini, and Pemalang Regent Anom Widiyantoro.
