KPK Communicates with Attorney General's Office on Febrie Adriansyah Case

Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has established formal communication with the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) concerning the continuation of a case involving alleged corruption and money laundering implicating former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah. KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto stated that discussions have already taken place, demonstrating the Attorney General’s Office’s seriousness in following up on the matter. He acknowledged that a verbal request has been made for the KPK to supervise the case after the Police’s Anti-Corruption Corps (Kortastipidkor) handed over the investigation to the Attorney General’s Office. Setyo explained that the KPK’s authority to supervise corruption cases is stipulated in Article 6 letter d of Law Number 19 of 2019 concerning the KPK. The subsequent mechanism for this supervision will be discussed by the KPK leadership in accordance with applicable standard operating procedures. Febrie Adriansyah resigned from his position as Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes on Saturday (11/7) and was named a suspect on the same day after a joint police team searched several locations related to the case over the preceding three days. The handover of the case from the police to the Attorney General’s Office was based on an agreement between the two institutions as a form of synergy in law enforcement. Acting Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Rudi Margono, emphasised that the Attorney General’s Office would handle the case professionally while upholding the presumption of innocence.
